Apply for aid renewal
We understand every student’s and family’s concern about the reliability of award renewal. Student Financial Services will send you information each year regarding how to renew your financial aid offer for the coming academic year.
In general, if your family’s financial circumstances remain the same, your award will remain the same or increase slightly from one year to the next. However, it is important to realize that need-based financial aid is based on your family’s financial circumstances and will be re-evaluated each year.
Applying for financial aid for this first time? Follow the instructions for first-year applicants.
How to reapply
For 2025-2026 need-based financial aid renewals, WashU requires that all current students complete both the CSS Profile and Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®).
Submit the 2025-2026 CSS Profile, which will be available starting October 1, 2024.
WashU’s CSS Profile Code: 6929
The Noncustodial Parent Profile is a CSS Profile submitted for your noncustodial parent’s household. WashU requires the CSS Profile from both biological parent households when parents are separated or divorced. If you do not have contact with your non-custodial parent, you may request to waive this requirement by completing this waiver request form.
CSS Profile Fee Waiver
You are eligible to submit the CSS Profile for free if you are a domestic first-year undergraduate applicant who fits one of the following criteria:
- Family adjusted gross income is up to $100,000
- The student qualified for an SAT fee waiver
- The student is an orphan or ward of the court under the age of 24
CSS Profile for noncustodial parents of domestic undergraduate students is free to submit for noncustodial parents whose family adjusted gross income is up to $100,000.
Students will find out if they are eligible for the fee waiver while completing the CSS Profile.
If you have an extenuating circumstance in which you may need a fee waiver, but do not fall within one or the criteria above, please reach out to our office.
Submit the 2025-2026 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®), which will be available by December 1, 2024
To complete the (FAFSA®), you will need:
- Your Social Security Number
- Your Alien Registration Number (if you are not a U.S. citizen)
- Your federal income tax returns (including schedules), W-2s, and other records of money earned
- Bank statements and records of investments (if applicable)
- Records of untaxed income (if applicable)
- The same Federal Student Aid ID assigned to you when you filed the FAFSA for the first time.
- WashU’s FAFSA school code 002520
If you are a dependent student, then you will also need most of the above information for your parent(s).
To renew financial aid for the 2025-2026 academic year, log into our portal, Net Partner, with your WUSTL key.
Once our office receives this information, we will consider your family’s financial circumstances. Your financial aid offer is based on the information you and your parents provide. WashU uses this information to determine the amount your family can pay toward your educational expenses.
All financial aid renewal materials must be submitted by March 31, 2025. We will email you during the third week of May when your renewal offer is available. Students who submit both their CSS Profile and their FAFSA by December 31, 2024, will be eligible for early renewal. Early renewal students will receive their 2025–2026 financial aid offer the first week of February.
You will not receive a paper copy of your financial aid offer via mail. Please make sure that your email information in WebSTAC is updated so we are able to contact you.
If you are not applying for university-funded aid, only a FAFSA is required to be considered for federal and state financial aid.
Special circumstances
We recognize that each student’s situation is unique and want to work with you to address any questions or updates about financial aid. We are happy to consider special circumstances that may affect your ability to pay for college, whether there have been changes in your family’s financial circumstances or information that was not fully represented by your FAFSA and/or CSS Profile. You should also provide us with updated information on any special circumstances we might have taken into consideration in 2024-2025 in adjusting your eligibility for financial aid. We will also consider requests to apply for financial aid as an independent student. Full details about submitting special circumstances or dependency override requests can be found on our Common Questions page.
For current international students
Current international students who receive financial aid will automatically have their award renewed based on the financial information provided at the time of application to the university. Renewal awards will be released in mid-May each year. Appeals for international students are considered on a very limited basis. Contact SFS at financial@wustl.edu for questions regarding the renewal or appeal process.
